During our ‘International Week’ the children in Reception listened to Peter Chand, an Indian storyteller. He told us a story about a naughty elephant and even taught us some Indian dancing. On Thursday, we wore traditional dress or clothes to match the colours of our family’s flag and the whole school joined together to sing ‘We Are The World’ in the playground. Have a look at some of our  pictures from ‘International Week’.

We have been reading Traditional Tales and were inspired to do some cooking. Can you guess which stories we have read by looking at these photographs?

A football coach from Spurs has been working with children in Reception playing football games and showing them new skills.

The children from Reception performed their Nativity. The children dressed up in costumes, and all looked fantastic! Reception acted, sang and danced for their parents, grandparents, friends and teachers.

The children and teachers in Reception visited St Edmund's Church. Father Ekpedeme was there to greet us. We said a prayer and Father Ekpedeme told us about how we can prepare for Jesus' coming at Christmas. Father Ekpedeme told us that Jesus loves us very much and he even sang us a song. Before we left Father Ekpedeme gave us all a special blessing.

The two Reception classes visited Edmonton Green library on the 15th March and had great fun reading books with the librarians, teachers, parents, carers and grandparents.

We were all very excited when the Easter Bunny came to visit us!  To welcome our very special guest, the children designed and made Easter hats and we had an Easter Parade.  The hats were absolutely fantastic and the children put lots of effort and enthusiasm into making them.  Well done!  The Easter Bunny had a very hard job deciding on the competition winners!

In Reception we love to cook! We learnt that recipes tell us what ingredients we need when we are cooking and how we cook. When we made gingerbread men we all worked together to take turns to measure, pour, sieve, mix and roll the ingredients. Next we cut out the gingerbread men and then we baked them in the oven. Finally we got to taste them! Yum Yum!

During International week we learnt lots about Brazil, the host country of the Olympics Games 2016. We also celebrated all the cultures in Reception and wore traditional dress. We were really lucky to have one of our parents come in and share information with us about their country.
