Our Classes

We gathered together to celebrate harvest and thank God for the food that we eat.  We also prayed for people that do not have enough to eat.

To celebrate Black History Month, year 1 were treated to  some wonderful singing, dancing and fantastic stories from Kofi.  We heard all about Anansi and how, if you follow trouble, trouble follows you!

Professional storyteller Bernadette came to visit Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.  We took part in the story as animals in the forest... birds, wolves, foxes and a skunk! We made wishes which became the stars in the sky.  We felt the rain on our faces and even though we were inside it snowed!  It was great fun and really fuelled the children's imaginations.  Thank you Bernadette.

Year 1 children had a ball performing their Christmas play - 'The Sleepy Shepherd'.  They were all fabulous, whether they were singing, dancing, acting or speaking.  Well done Year 1!  It was a triumph!

Christmas Play

We went on a virtual tour using mobile phones. We saw polar bears and penguins and gorillas and sharks!

Year 1 children learned a lot at the school's science fair.  They made shadows, planted bulbs, identified mystery smells and items using their senses and found out all about the solar system.

We took part in a story from Chinese folklore about the Emperor Jade who didn't look after his people properly.  The dragon and the Mountain God rescued the village.  It was great fun.

Chinese New Year storytelling

We created brilliant rhythm and sound when we drummed samba-style!

The Easter Bunny came to visit!  She was very impressed with all of the Easter hats that we made.  Well done to the winners of the hat competition and to all the children that received end of term commendations.

Easter Parade

St Edmund's children celebrated World Book Day in style this year.  They dressed up as their favourite book characters, had exciting visits from actors and had role play workshops  and Mrs Hanley gave them a book of their choice completely FREE!!  Thank you for buying books at the Book Fair after school, this support  for your child/children and for the school, is greatly appreciated. We raised nearly £1000 which we can spend on books!

World Book Day

Year 1 had a fantastic day visiting Forty Hall... We made lavender posies to help us sleep, dressed up and joined Sir Nicholas in the Great Hall for dinner, made bread, played 17th century games and had a tour of the house.  We also had some spare time to spend in the playground!  What a great day!
