Our School took part in this special event to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.
The whole school celebrated the Royal Wedding with a Royal street party in the playground.
Many thanks to Mr Fitch and Miss Lynch for being William and Kate for the day.
The whole school including ex-students and parents took part in our centenary event celebrating our 100th year as a Catholic school.
A very special visitor known as Google came to our school demonstrating his great work towards aiding people.
The whole school took part in the Mary Procession in the Parish garden.
Both year 3 classes made an reenactment of a Viking battle in the KS2 playground.
On the 16th June 2014 children from Years 3,4, and 5 came to school in their Holy Communion clothes. Then we all went to church and had a wonderful mass. The person who was leading the mass was Father Emmanuel. After the mass we went to the school hall. We took some photos and we had biscuits and a drink. It was a delightful morning.
Both year 3 and year 4 attend the Lea Valley Centre to compete in their sports day event.
Year 2, 3, 5 and 6 children had writing workshops with author Donna Vann.
We learned how to plan, write and edit a story.
Some children also learnt the importance of hooking the reader and ways to do this.
Children in Years 3 4, and 6 now have the opportunity to take part in the Cycle Confident scheme.
Level 1 encourages children to enjoy cycling and gives them the basic skills to develop into future on road cyclists. The children's bikes are adjusted with the children watching and learning and helmets are correctly fitted.
In November, Classes 3.1 and 3.2 received a visit from Warburtons. The children learned about the Eatwell plate (balanced diet), the five food groups and food safety.
The lunchtime Code Club for years 3 and 4 took part in the "Hour of Code" . They learnt to write algorithms to make snowflakes with Anna and Elsa from Frozen or to help Angry Birds, Zombies and Scratch the Ice Age Squirrel find their prey! Since then all year groups and the Computing after-school club have been using Beyond Hour of Code to improve their coding skills.
Year 1 and 3 recently had a visit from Kelly who works for the charity Dogs Trust. The children learnt about being safe around dogs and how to care for your pet.
We were lucky enough to have a visit from Zoolab recently. Here we learnt lots about rainforest animals and what they need to survive. We even got to hold them! It was a very exciting lesson and we tried our best to be brave around these amazing creatures!
In Year 3, at the end of each topic, we like to plan and lead in our own class liturgies. The children decide on the prayers we say, if we need a candle or holy water, and which Bible stories we listen to. It is a very peaceful time where we get to reflect on what we have learnt.
It was recently Chinese New Year and to celebrate we learnt a traditional dance, wore dragon masks, danced with parasols and learnt the story of how each animal got a year on the calendar. It was a fantastic day where we learnt lots and had loads of fun!
During the Summer term, children from year 3 visited Forty Hall and Estate.
They had some workshops linked to their 'Plants' topic.
The children also had the opportunity to look at plants close up using microscopes!
Children from year 3 recently celebrated International Day.
They wore traditional dress or the flag colours for their country.
Some children created some wonderful torches for our Olympic ceremony!
Some parents also joined us to share our projects all about our country.
Children from year 3 celebrated Bastille Day on the 14th July.
They decorated the classroom with bunting and flags then enjoyed a tasty French breakfast of croissants and orange juice. They found out about the history of Bastille day and created a French vocabulary book for our link school. The children had lots of fun!
Children in Year 3, 4 and 5 who made their First Holy Communion this year took part in a special celebration of the sacrament. It was a lovely, prayerful day and the children looked wonderful in their outfits. Well done and congratulations!
On18th July we had our final class liturgy in Year 3. (At the end of each topic we like to lead in our own liturgies in class). The children did a great job at choosing prayers, Bible readings and even arranged Holy water to be present. Our recent topic was called “A Virtuous Life” where we learnt all about the story of the Good Samaritan. Great work Year 3!
All children in Year 3 recently took part in Sport’s Afternoon in Lee Valley Athletics Centre. They all tried their hardest and some even won a medal! Well done everyone!
