Love, Care, Share Our Computing Lessons Archive

Year 6 visited the CLC to learn how to use GarageBand to make music and podcasts.

Year 1 used Espresso to write algorithms for a St George and the dragon app to celebrate St George's Day.

Year 5 went to the CLC to learn how to make robots using Lego WeDo. First we practised with simple models: getting them to move in different ways and make different sounds. Then we made drumming monkey robots or spinning tops. Lastly we could choose what robot to make and some of us made dragon robots for St George’s day.

Year 4 after school Computing Club have been using nested loops in Code Studio to draw some repeat patterns:

Year 6 used JavaScript to draw the Star of David symbol to complement their RE lessons about Judaism.

Year 3 have been helping Roamers deliver Christmas presents and teaching them to sing Christmas carols!

Year 1 used a variety of programs in the Autumn Term to learn about control.

Year 4 travelled to the Delta CLC Centre in Enfield to make videos about Tudor life.

Year 4 was using green screen technology which made it possible to use Tudor pictures for their backgrounds.

They scripted their work and acted their short play, even directed their work. They edited the videos once they had finished recording.

Please watch the videos of year 4 showing their work .

We recently purchased a green screen and we tested this new technology with year 3.

The year 3 children became weather reporters reporting the weather using the green screen to image a map of the UK and weather animations into the video.

The green screen worked very well for the lesson.

Well done to year 3 for doing a great job reporting the weather.

Year 1 retold the story of Pentecost and the lives of Saint Peter and Saint Paul using green screen.

Nathaniel (Class 5.1) delivered the computing lesson regarding the use of JavaScript to both Year 5 classes.

Reception have sent Advent e-mails to their teachers and Year 1 have used 2Publish to make a class Advent calendar but the rest of the school have been using their coding skills to make Christmas games using Scratch.

Years 2, 4 and 6 used the Star of Bethlehem as inspiration: Year 2 used the arrow keys to make the star move, Year 4 made the star light up if it was over the stable and Year 6 made the star twinkle and grow. Year 3 made Advent candles flicker and wrote some Christmas music which some of them  played using the Makey Makeys and Year 5 helped a shepherd collect his sheep and take them to the stable.

Code Club have also been working hard to make their own nativity games this half term.

We hope you enjoy playing them!
