We are taking part in one of the 99,000 Hour of Code events worldwide registered to participate during the week December 7th-13th. I will be using their resources in lunchtime and after-school clubs that week but you can join in at home too! One of the suggested activities this year is that school children use Discovery Coding (which we use in our school computer lessons) to show their parents and other adults how to do coding. These are some PDF documents which you can download and I would encourage you to let your child show you, and teach you, about algorithms. There are additional coding challenges on the website link to the Hour of Code site which you and your child will enjoy. Please let me know how you got on and what you thought of the activities.
As the founder of Code.org says: “Just one hour can inspire students to keep learning!”
