Love, Care, Share Our Computing Lessons Computing Page

Year 3 celebrated Black History Month with a combined PE and Computing lesson: they tried to do as many catches, lunges, skips, jumps, bounces and hoops as possible in Usain Bolt's world record 100m time of 9.58 seconds. They videoed the attempts using iPads and will edit the videos in class.

"Best* Day EVER!!!"

Just one of the comments from pupils who experienced Virtual Reality for the first time when Google Expeditions visited the school. There were screams of delight from all the children over 7 who were able to use the Google Cardboard headsets to explore space, volcanoes, underwater, the Antarctic, Roman Britain, the Amazon and other exciting destinations. Even the younger children were able to join in looking at the content on mobile devices. Many thanks to Google for giving us this opportunity.

[*Noisiest anyway!]

Reception have sent Advent e-mails to their teachers and Year 1 made Christmas cards. Year 2 used Scratch to move a star above the stable in Bethlehem and Years 3 and 4 used loops in Scratch to animate advent candles. Years 5 and 6 designed an animated advent calendar in Scratch. Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day 2017 was celebrated globally on Tuesday 7th February with the theme 'Be the change: unite for a better internet'. We thought about all of the things that made us unique and found out that other people shared our uniqueness! Code Club collated all the information and presented it in an assembly. We also considered what images we should share with other people online and who might be able to see them. Years 1 and 2 tried to identify clues that could give away personal information in photographs and Years 3-5 tried to identify images that create either a positive or negative impression and chose images of themselves that created a positive first impression. Year 6 children heard the story of 14 year-old Breck Bednar who was killed after meeting with someone that he only knew online and discussed ways that they would keep themselves and their friends safe.

Lent

This half term we have been studying Lent in our RE and Computing lessons:

    Reception re-enacted the Last Supper.

Year 1 used chroma key technology to take photos of each other in the desert, in Jerusalem and on top of a mountain. Then they wrote about the Temptations of Jesus and made photo collages.

Year 2 thought about different ways that they are tempted to do the wrong thing.

Lent Computing Lessons Reception, Year 1 & 2

Years 3 and 4 used chroma key technology to record videos about the Temptations of Jesus then they edited them using Movie Maker.

Temptation Videos

Year 5 wrote blogs about the topics covered in their RE lessons and also commented on each others blogs.

Year 6 made claymation movies about being tempted to do the wrong thing.
