We spent a week celebrating the many different cultures that make up our school. It was a busy week! We listened to an Indian story teller, played steel pans, presented projects about our backgrounds and dressed in traditional clothing. We finished our week off with a grand finale, were we flew our flags, sang ‘We Are The World’ and let balloons off in the playground. Take a look at the video.
During our ‘International Week’ the children in Reception listened to Peter Chand, an Indian storyteller. He told us a story about a naughty elephant and even taught us some Indian dancing. On Thursday, we wore traditional dress or clothes to match the colours of our family’s flag and the whole school joined together to sing ‘We Are The World’ in the playground. Have a look at some of our pictures from ‘International Week’.
Thank you to all the parents who came in during International Week to help their children present their homework projects to the rest of the class. The projects were all about the children's cultural background and we learned a lot!
Year 1 continued
During International week, Year 1 listened to an Indian story about how the elephant got his trunk! We also learned to play Calypso music on steel pans. We also made flags from all of the different countries of the families of children in our classes.
As part of ‘International Week’, we had the opportunity to play the steel pans. It was great fun! Take a look at our performance.
We took part in a story from Chinese folklore about the Emperor Jade who didn't look after his people properly. The dragon and the Mountain God rescued the village. It was great fun.
