On Friday 7th November the KS2 assembly was taken by Manasse from Year 5 and Meldy, Audrey, Nicole and Olivia from Year 6. They had found out about a World War 1 soldier or sailor who lived close to them so that we could remember them together. The Year 6 children had done this as part of their computing lessons before half term but Manasse chose to do this in his own time. Aneesha had done a PowerPoint presentation which was shown as “The Last Post” played and she read out the following verse from Laurence Binyon’s famous poem “For the Fallen”:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Then the children said prayers from the British Legion Service of Remembrance.
