Public Speaking Continued

A big congratulations to Mevna and Mikaela for doing a fantastic job at representing St.Edmund’s in the final for the Mayor’s Award for Public Speaking. They wrote and presented their own speeches and showed real passion in their chosen subjects. They even impressed the Deputy Mayor of Enfield, who attended the competition and presented the finalists with their certificates. Well done girls!

Public Speaking

On 23 October 2014 two girls from Year 6 represented St. Edmund’s in the semi-final of the Mayors Award for Public Speaking. Both girls spoke so beautifully, and with such great confidence, that they made it through to the final which will be held next month. We wish them both the best of luck!

The Barbican

The Digital Leaders went to the Barbican. We saw lots of games and computing devices. It was to do with the Digital Revolution.

Mayors Award for Writing

All children in KS2 will be writing an entry for the Mayors Award for Writing Competition which will run in early March. The Mayor visited our school to talk to us about her role and introduce the writing competition.

Over the coming weeks the children will be working on their story writing skills in class. One story from each year group will be selected and entered into the competition.

They won the competition performing a five song mash up consisting of PROUD, LEAN ON ME, GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN, EVERYTHINGS GONNA BE ALRIGHT & YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. They made us all very PROUD !!!

The St Edmund’s Choir

The St Edmund’s Choir has entered the Mayor of Enfield Choral Competition. we had to send a video to the organisers and we are waiting to see if we have got through.

G&T Art Club

The G&T Art Club meets every Monday after school. They are ten members and recently seven of them entered the Art House competition run by the Education at Parliament UK Organisation.

They had to choose a theme PEOPLE, EVENTS, or STORIES. The idea of “PEOPLE” was to paint a portrait of someone they knew and tell us something about that person in the picture.

EVENTS something that has happened in history recent or otherwise that has captured their imagination or inspired them in some way.

We have pictures of the entries for all you to see.

Good Luck to all the artists involved.

We were informed by Art House that they had received 301 entries.
