  • Black History Month Visitors

    Published 14/10/22

As part of our Black History Month celebrations, parents have been invited to come in and speak to the children about their cultural traditions and heritage.

Today, Year 5 was lucky to have Mr Tesgaye visit and speak to them about Ethiopian traditions and culture. Children learnt loads about the history of Ethiopia, the fantastic foods and coffee which the people enjoy as well as some traditional dances which can be performed.

The children loved the opportunity to ask further questions, and we can't thank all our visitors this month for the effort and time they have given in further educating our children at St Edmund's.

  • Harvest Celebrations

    Published 07/10/22

Yesterday, our Year 3 classes led a beautiful celebration in the hall for our school community. We were joined by parents, carers and Father Walter from our Parish Church, who joined the Year 3's in leading our liturgy. The children sang, smiled and read their lines so eloquently.

Well done Year 3, and thank you to the staff who helped organise the occasion.

Thank you for all your kind donations. We received a very generous amount of goods, which were then collected by our Parish Church and will be used to support our local community.

  • Reception Liturgy

    Published 30/09/22

This afternoon our new Reception children took part in their first Year Group liturgy in the hall. They were joined by Father Noel and the parents and families of the children. The children did a great job dressing the altar and listening to the special words of our Parish priest. They also sang two beautiful songs for us all to hear. Then, one by one, the children came to the altar and received a special envelope with rosary beads and a prayer card to use at home.

Thank you to those who attended and the Reception Team for preparing such a lovely liturgy.

More pictures of the Reception Liturgy can be found here.

  • New School Year, New Red Ties!

    Published 23/09/22

Last week we were very excited to announce the Autumn Red Ties. Twelve children were chosen from Year 6 by their teachers who represented the St Edmund's motto 'Love, Care, Share' each and every day. These children are excellent role models to their peers and stand out not only because of their bright red ties, but because of their effort, resilience and big smiles!

This week they have completed their first full week of duties and performed excellently. From collecting registers, helping in the dinner hall and setting up games at lunchtime, they have all truly justified why they were chosen. The children will continue in this role until January, when new red ties will be selected!

Well done everyone on a great first week!

  • St Edmund's Goes Platinum!

    Published 19/07/22

We are delighted to announce that St. Edmund's Catholic Primary School, have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise the school's engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active.

We are delighted to have been recognised for our success. Our physical activity and school sports achievements this Year include: Winning the Netball and Girls Football League and representing Tottenham Hotspur at the Premier League Primary Stars Tournament at Vicarage Road. We have also participated in numerous events throughout the Year run by the Enfield PE Team, intra events in school all of which ended with a special week when all children participated in Sports Day.

We are incredibly proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our events possible.

Huge congratulations to all at the school and Mrs Spinazzola who has led PE across the school this year!

  • Introducing Nugget and Miles!

    Published 06/07/22

Last week Mr Kenny visited Year 4 and heard that the children had been tasked with budgeting for a pet to be bought for our school community. At first, he was stunned by the suggestions of wild exotic animals coming from South America or Asia; however, it was finally agreed that we could handle and afford some school fish as a school.

Mr Kenny and Mrs Kenny took a selection of children from Year 4 to Edmonton Green to purchase all that was needed. This way, the children were able to make last week's learning during 'My Money Week' come to life as well as develop other skills, as they will also have to look after our new pets.

As the children went through the Edmonton Green and made new friends everywhere, they found the pet shop and purchased two Goldfish. After much debate, they have been called Nugget and Miles.

Make sure you keep your eyes around the school to greet our new friends

Earlier this week, a selection of children from across our school were chosen to go and visit Tate Britain. They travelled via public transport into London and experienced just some of what our wonderful city has to offer. Miss Sinclair and Mrs Pope, who organised the trip, brought some of our most talented artists to explore the Tate and continue developing their drawing skills.

All the children had a fantastic day, which I am sure will last with them for years to come.

Well done all for representing the school so well!
