  • Teamwork Makes The Dream Work!

    Published 25/02/22

A huge well done to the Year 5/6 girl's Football Team. During the week they not only represented St Edmund's but also Enfield Borough as they played against Muswell Hill Primary for a place in the national finals later this year. The girls gave a brave and spirited performance against a tough team, and were victorious 2-0. All played really well and there were some great saves by Victoria to keep a clean sheet.

The girls will now represent St Edmund's and Tottenham Hotspur in May at the home of Watford Football Club, Vicarage Road. This is a fantastic opportunity, and we are all very proud of what you have achieved so far.

Make sure you say well done if you see the girls around school! :-)

  • Behaviour At St Edmund's

    Published 21/02/22

St Edmund's is a very happy and welcoming community where parents, staff and governors work together to achieve the best education for every one of our children.

As a Catholic school, St Edmund's aims to develop each child to reach their full potential in a friendly, positive, safe and caring atmosphere. Our child-centred approach focuses on the individual needs of the child, to ensure success whilst providing opportunities for spiritual, personal and intellectual growth.

This academic year, we have introduced a new behaviour policy to meet the changing needs of our students after a very challenging 18 months, which may have effected their personal growth and academic progress.

It is our firm belief behaviour across our school must be outstanding, in order for children to make progress and the relationship between home and school is vital for pupils to thrive. We hope the information below, along with our policy, will help to explain our school rules, approach and continue the close cooperation staff and parents have had during the history of our school.

  • STEAM DAY 2022

    Published 06/02/22

St Edmund's recently held it's annual STEAM Day. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) is a very special day for our pupils to further explore a range of subjects through fun, purposeful and engaging activities.

Each year we also choose one of the United Nation's Global Goals as a focus for our learning. This year it was Global Goal 15, which is 'Life On Land'. Children took part in a range of activities which focused on protecting and restoring life on our planet.

There were protests in the playground, year group debates, invention creating and more for children to enjoy across the day.

Thank you Miss Nugent for organising!

Each term, St Edmund's changes which pupils have the privilege to wear a Red Tie! Ten new children from Year 6 have been chosen by their teacher who have been excelling in everyday school life. This group demonstrates our school motto 'Love, Care, Share' every day. They are excellent role models to the younger children because of their effort, resilience and big smiles!

From collecting registers, helping in the dinner hall, setting up games during wet breaks, they have already justified why they have been chosen. They will continue in this role until the Easter break when the final ten children will be chosen.

  • Exciting News...

    Published 19/01/22

We are proud to share with you all that St Edmund's has recently been re-awarded its Quality Mark Accreditation.

The Quality Mark Award promotes, supports and celebrates progress and improvements made by a school in English and Mathematics. To achieve a Quality Mark, schools have to undergo an assessment by an external accredited assessor against 10 'elements' of the Quality Mark framework. These cover key aspects of the school's improvement plan, including the identifications and analysis of the school's needs; strategic planning, target setting for improvement; intervention and support for pupils underachieving or under-attaining; provision of quality in both teaching and resources; staff development; and active engagement with families. Effective monitoring and evaluation are also required - particularly to achieve renewal.

This award highlights just some of the fantastic work in St Edmund's, and we should all be delighted that this has been recognised.

A huge well done to the whole St Edmund's family!

More information about the Quality Mark Award can be found here.

  • 'Dream Believe and Succeed'

    Published 12/01/22

Earlier this week, children from Year 4, 5 and 6 were invited to attend a very special theatre production at the Millfield Theatre.

The production was an exciting opportunity for children to see a live performance from the 'Dream Believe, Succeed' project, which is funded by the Mayor's Young Londoners Fund. The show was filled with amazing singing and incredible choreography, as pupils watched the story of well-known fairytale characters embark on a journey of fitting in, creating friendships and making right choices.

It was a fantastic treat and great way to start the new term. All 130 children who attended loved the experience and represented the school brilliantly. Great work everyone!

Here are a few quotes of what children thought of the show:

"I absolutely loved it. It was very funny!"

"The music was great, I just wanted to start dancing!"

"The dancing was cool, they were very good dancers!"

"I had never been the theatre before. It was good fun, and hopefully we can go again."

  • Christmas Has Arrived!

    Published 15/12/21

Unfortunately, this year KS2 could not all come together to perform their Christmas Carol Concert in the Church. However, the children and staff have been working very hard over the last few weeks to learn some very special songs, which we are very excited to bring to you virtually. Today in school, our whole community watched it at the same time, in phases, and even though we are still separated, there was a lovely feeling of togetherness.

So grab a cup of tea, sit back, and we hope you enjoy the KS2 Christmas Carol Concert 2021.

The KS1 Christmas Nativity is often one of the highlights of the year. However, due to our ongoing efforts to keep everyone safe, we again decided to make this year's performance virtual. All the staff and children have been working very hard over the last few weeks to learn about this special time of year. They have also been learning some joyful songs which they wanted to share with everyone at home.

So grab another cup of tea, and we hope you enjoy the KS1 Christmas Nativity!

  • Blingwear Arts

    Published 03/12/21

This morning class 6.2 took part in a two-hour creative workshop to introduce children to the history of graffiti art and give them the chance to develop their own piece with guidance from an experienced artist. There were also discussions on careers in the arts and the ways we can make our ideas a reality.

Children used a variety of materials to create their own design for a business logo. This included using spray cans, stencils, Posca paint pens and airbrushes. It has been a fantastic and exciting morning for all, and we know Class 6.1 are even more excited now and are eagerly awaiting their turn next week. Thank you to Edmonton Community Partnership for helping to bring this opportunity to St Edmund's.

  • St Edmund's Day

    Published 22/11/21

Yesterday was a very special day for our whole school community as we celebrated and remembered St Edmund. St Edmund's day, which is celebrated around the world on the 20th November each year, is a day to remember his sacrifice, faith and strength to not denounce Christ to the invading Danes. St Edmund was loved by his people for his loving, caring nature and each year we remember his story and try to learn from his example.

Children in school have been retelling St Edmund's story through role play, posters, poems and writing, as well as all joining a very special virtual assembly led by Miss Pittendreigh. There was even some time to enjoy some special treats and a class party.

During the assembly Aysha-Rei, who is in Year 6, shared with us all exactly what it means to be a St Edmund's pupil. It was a lovely piece of writing and demonstrates the special community we have.

'I have been in this school since Reception. Over the years, I have not only made great friends, but made great memories. To be a St Edmund's child to other people looking in, may seem like being a child at any other school, but it is not. St. Edmund's is not only a school or community, it is a family, it's a home. To be a St. Edmund's child means to be someone who is comfortable being themselves and who is celebrated for it! I am proud to be a St Edmund's child, and I wouldn't change a thing!'

Please make sure to ask your child about our special day, and we hope you all had a great St Edmund's Day too!

  • Year 6 And The Chocolate Factory

    Published 18/11/21

This week Year 6 were lucky enough to go and visit The Chocolate Museum in Brixton. This linked to their Topic unit, which this term is all about the Mayans. Children had the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Mayan civilization and even made their own dark chocolate slab, which they could then take home. There was also lots of chocolate tasting!

Both classes had a great time, and all the adults shared that the children were a credit to the school!

    Well done everyone!
