Well done to the Year 5 and 6 football team for playing their first matches at Power League last week.
We won one match and lost one. Everyone played really well. Well done to all of you!
Today, the children came together in their phases to celebrate the festival of Harvest. Year 1 and 2 took part in a beautiful liturgy in the hall led by Miss Sar and Miss Conway.
Year 4 were very lucky to watch a fantastic assembly by Year 3 all about why Harvest Festival is a time to thank God for the food he provides for us. The children spoke confidently and clearly enjoyed performing. They were a credit to their teachers!
Year 5 and 6 came together virtually to join in a special liturgy led by Miss Pittendreigh. They had time to pray and reflect on what makes Harvest special to so many.
Thank you to all who have donated food. We will now ensure all donations are passed on to those in need in our local community.
Every year, the children at St Edmund's mark the harvest season in a special way. This year we shall be having three separate celebrations, allowing all children to be involved within their respective phases.
A big part of the Harvest Celebration for the children is the donation of items for a good cause. We would love to make this year the biggest yet, after the disruption last year. We would really appreciate if you could send what you can, which might include:
We shall ensure that all donations will be passed on to vulnerable people within our Parish. Please can all donations be sent to school as soon as possible and by Wednesday 6th October at the latest.
We understand that in the current climate it is not always possible to give. Please do not feel under any pressure to donate.
Thank you in advance for the support you give us in teaching your children the virtues of giving and of Christian charity.
Last weekend, Hollie in Year 6 took part in a charity walk for the Alzheimer's Society. Hollie and her mum have raised an incredible £700 so far, and all in St Edmund's are very proud of you both. The sore legs the next day were certainly worth it! You have set a fantastic examples to others around school, and it is great to see you demonstrating our school motto 'Love, Care, Share'.
If you see Hollie (or her mum) please make sure to say a huge well done!
We are delighted to welcome our new Reception children and their families to the St Edmund's community. We fully understand that starting Reception is a huge milestone for children and parents. We aim to make the transition as smooth as possible and help children embrace their new environment and feel happy and secure at school. This week the children started full time and enjoyed making new friends and getting to know the staff.
Here are a few photos of the children's first full days.
This term St Edmund's are privileged to be working with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. Each week coaches arrive to run a reading programme with Year 4 and lead PE lessons with Year 2.
It is a fantastic opportunity for children to take part in activities which encourage wellbeing and gives them a chance to take ownership of their behaviour and attitude towards learning.
We would like to thank the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation for all their efforts and look forward to working with them in the future.
A warm welcome back from all the staff at St Edmunds! We hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready for the new school year ahead.
A special welcome must go to all our new staff and children who have joined across the school. We are very pleased you have joined our school community, and we look forward to working with you all over the next few years!
We are also excited to share that Zolie in Year 6 has recently been accepted to train and play for Arsenal Woman FC. She received her first Arsenal kit over the Summer holidays and was invited to play in her first tournament held in Swindon. Zolie has been working and training very hard over the last couple of years, and all from the St Edmund's community would like to congratulate her on her efforts. We are incredibly proud of you and are very much looking forward to hearing and watching your rise to the top!
Finally, thank you parents, for your patience and understanding with the new gate routines. As restrictions slowly start to ease, and we re-establish school routines, let's stay positive, keep smiling and make this the best school year yet!
Today has been Year 6's last day at St Edmund's. It is a very strange day today because it is both sad and very exciting at the same time.
Sad because all of you have been such a big part of St. Edmund’s for a large part of your life. You have spent more time at school with your friends and teachers than you have at home. You might be sad because you are moving to a new school that is different to your friends. It lots of change – new teachers, new classrooms and new friends.
But – today is also very exciting because although it is the end of your time at St. Edmunds it is the start of a new adventure!
After the holidays you will all be going to wonderful Secondary Schools where you will meet new friends and have great opportunities.
We are very proud of all of you. We have watched you grow over the years in height and intelligence, until we see the wonderful young people you have become today.
Always remember your time at St. Edmund’s.
Remember our Motto – To Love, Care, Share.
If you can remember to live by this Motto in all that you do, you will have a great, happy life ahead of you.
Love your friends and your families, and you will feel loved in return.
Care for others around you and out in the wider world, and you will be cared for by others
And Share your wonderful talents that God has given you – put them to good use.
Come back to visit us to inspire other children when you are doctors, solicitors and teachers.
All the staff at St. Edmund’s wish you lots of happiness and great success in your new schools and your futures.
Mrs Johnstone

Over the past few months the children across St Edmund's have worked tirelessly with Mrs Jenkins and Mrs Kenny to plant flowers, trees and vegetables around our school, as part of the boroughs edible garden project / Enfield in Bloom. They have done a fantastic job making our school even more beautiful and have learnt loads about plants and how to grow food in the process.
Have a look at our amazing work!
At St Edmund's we are always excited to hear of the success of past students. We recently heard that Emmanuela, who is now in Year 7 at St Michael's Catholic Grammar School, had won Michael Morpurgo's #HowWillYouSayThankYou Poetry Competition.
Emmanuela has won £100 of book vouchers for her amazing and heartfelt poem which you can listen to below!
'Keep up your amazing work Emmanuela' - From all the proud adults and children of St Edmund's!
We were delighted to have received a donation of books from Marcus Rashford and his collaboration with Magic Breakfast. This book is the first book in the Marcus Rashford Book Club. It is called ‘A Dinosaur Ate My Sister’ written by Pooja Puri with illustrations by Allen Fatimaharan.
Marcus Rashford says:
“Welcome to my Book Club. I’m so excited that you are able to join us. I want you to take this book home tonight and write your name in the front because this book belongs to you and only you. It’s obviously fine to share with friends and siblings but only if YOU want to.
Tell your friends that this book is a gift from me to you because that’s exactly what it is.Escape in to the story and find the joy in your reading. If you’re struggling don’t be afraid to ask for help. We all need help along the way, me included. There is no rush to get to the end, enjoy every word at your own pace.
I’m so excited to hear what you think.” – Marcus Rashford MBE
