At St Edmunds, Science is taught with an emphasis on improving scientific language and skills. We provide lessons and experiences that allow our pupils to develop and build Science process skills as they move through the key stages. As the world around us becomes more science-driven, we expose our pupils to experiences that spark further interest in STEM-based careers. Pupils can ask and investigate their own questions through weekly science lessons and explore the subject further through cross-curricular learning.

As we continue to raise the profile of Science in our school, this academic year, we introduced Super Scientists in each class. These individuals have displayed an enthusiasm for the subject or excelled in a lesson /topic. The reward for this fantastic display of Science knowledge or skill is their very own lab jacket, which can be worn for the next block of lessons! 

So, if you ever see a child wearing one of our lab jackets, ask them any Science questions you may have!

For the first time since December 2019, it was truly special to welcome all of the St Edmund's community together again to join in prayer and worship for the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ at our KS2 Christmas Carol Concert - The Bells Ring Out. 

All of the performers and congregation left with huge smiles on their faces and filled with Christmas spirit. It was a truly special evening and the children from Years 3 and 4 acted out and read the Christmas story so beautifully and respectfully. The choir, supported by all of kS2 in some of the carols, sang marvellously and harmoniously in celebration of Jesus' birth. 

Merry Christmas to one and all - may the bells ring out in each and every household!

Last Friday, our fantastic school choir took some time out of their day to visit Eastbrook Care Home in lower Edmonton and sing Christmas carols for the residents and staff. Singing and listening to music can be a great source of joy and comfort for people, especially during the holiday season. It's a thoughtful and kind gesture for the choir to share their talents in this way. I'm sure the residents of the care home appreciated the performance and the festive spirit it brought.

A huge thank you to Mrs Pope and Miss O'Halloran for organising this thoughtful gesture.

Today was an incredibly colourful affair over in our Reception block. Each classroom was full of princesses, knights, dragons and even a few gingerbread men. The children came to school dressed as their favourite characters from a story and attended the St Edmund's Fairy Tale Ball. Throughout the day, there were lots of laughter and smiles as the children talked about their character and even joined in some ballroom dancing. The children have been learning about traditional tales and their characters, settings and feelings over the past few weeks. So this was the perfect way to bring all of this to life.

Thank you to all the parents who made a great effort to help the children look so fantastic. Also, a big well done to the Reception team, who organised and also dressed up for the day!

On Sunday, November 13th, representatives from St Edmund's joined the Remembrance Day Parade in Edmonton Green. We marched with the Royal British Legion, the Mayor of Enfield, our local MP, Air and Sea Cadets, Police, Scouts, Guides and other uniformed groups, to honour and remember all those men and women in the armed forces who have died in wars. We were also joined by children representing Oasis Academy and Millbrook Pre-School. We are proud to say, "We will remember them".
